So you go to bed at night and stare at your skin, wishing there was a solution to your acne. You wake up the next morning; you look in the mirror and see something that resembles a growing pimple on your cheek that wasn't there the night before!! Now what?! Don't panic people, there are certain steps that you can take to resolve this pending volcano on the side of your face that may erupt in the next few days.
It's all about 4 steps: Cleanse, Treat, Moisturize, and Protect.
Cleansing: You should know if you have normal, combination (T-Zone gets shiny), sensitive (skin feels tingly or burns when you apply products) or oily skin. A product I recommend is Cetaphil. It's made by a company called Galderma that's been around since 1981 and they only specialize in skin care products. It's a little bit on the pricier side but a whole bottle will last more than a month. Cleanse your skin using a circular motion and rinse with warm water once in the morning and once at night.
DO NOT rinse with cold or hot water or try to scrub away your pimples this will only irritate your skin even more. AND no popping, it's only going to be harder to cover up the next day! Don't mess with nature's course!
Treat: Now you need to spot treat those suckers! Use a product containing salicylic or glycolic acid. Make sure you read the directions, but more than likely you'll use these products at night when your skin has time to regenerate. You can take this tip or leave it but I'll put a band-aid on my pimple so the product doesn't rub off on my pillow.
Moisturize and Protect: Make sure you wait until your spot treating product is dry and then you'll want to apply a moisturizer. Again I recommend Cetaphil with SPF 15 as a moisturizer. The great thing about this product is that it seeps into your skin and doesn't feel greasy afterwards. The SPF 15 is very important to everyone whether you're a male, female, teenager or adult. SPF protects you from harmful rays from the sun and with the ozone layer getting thinner you might eventually want to bump up the SPF factor to 30!
Once you get into your regimen and it's still not working. Call a local dermatologist and they can prescribe you lotions, creams, or anti-biotics to kill the bacteria that causes acne!
You need to clean your face twice a day.
