For five seasons "Project Runway" has been a midweek treat for fashion junkies like us. We have tuned in faithfully every week to watch the way to the New York Fashion Week finale and
one designer's ultimate victory.
Now a legal fight between NBC Universal, parent to Bravo, and the Weinstein Co., the show's producers, threatens to give one of the best things to happen to the genre an undue snip and leave style fans on the sewing room floor.
But this is not all bad news! Bravo plans to add two new fashion shows! The network has given a series pickup to "The Fashion Show," which like "Project Runway" is described as a fashion-design creative competition series. One difference between "Project Runway" and "The Fashion Show" is that the winner of the new series will have their designs sold by an unspecified retailer and the winner be chosen by viewers. Casting is underway.
The network also is developing "Celebrity Sew-Off," in which celebrities compete in a design competition to determine who has the ability to launch their own clothing label. The contestants will each be paired with an expert.
