This year's Academy Awards shined like the stars that attended. Hugh Jackman was an incredible host. He kept our attention, kept the show moving and was flawless. The way the show was put together this year, was unlike any show in the past. We absolutely loved how they chose to have previous winners introduce the nominees and give the Oscars in the top categories.
The personal touch it added to the show will be forever remembered. It was a great way to truly honor the nominees. So to the Academy- Kudos on the great work you did this year putting together the show. And who knew Anne Hathaway had a voice like that!
Now lets get to the Winners of the 2009 Academy Awards:
Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire
As I said before- this was a shoe in to win.
Actor in a Leading Role: Sean Penn, Milk
In my predictions- I was torn between Sean and Mickey. They are both great actors, while I would have loved to see Mickey's speech, I am happy with the choice.
Actress in a Leading Role: Kate Winslet, The Reader
What a great acceptance speech. I was in tears. Great actress, absolutely deserved to win.
Actor in a Supporting Role: Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight
We all knew Heath would win. Very touching that his family accepted the award on his behalf.
Actress in a Supporting Role: Penélope Cruz, Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Ahhh. Penelople- I got a chance to watch Vicky Cristina Barcelona on Sunday before the show, and I think had I seen it before I made my picks, I would have changed my vote.
Director: Danny Boyle, Slumdog Millionaire
I said before this was going to the new household name- Danny Boyle. This film really is an inspiration. To see an independent project become the big winner of the night really does show- anything is possible with talented people.
