Britney Spears' "If U Seek Amy" Lyrics Too Much? Angers Parents Speak Up

The Parents Television Council is not happy about Britney Spears' new cunningly titled song “If U Seek Amy” getting radio play. It first started with parents in Australia complaining about the song’s content, which basically spell out F- Me and now that the track has become the third single off Circus, American parents are lining up to demand radio stations cease playing the song between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. as it “violates the broadcast indecency law.”

“There is no misinterpreting the lyrics to this song, and it’s certainly not about a girl named Amy,” PTC president Tim Winter said. “It’s one thing for a song with these lyrics to be included on a CD so that fans who wish to hear it can do so, but it’s an entirely different matter when this song is played over the publicly owned airwaves, especially at a time when children are likely to be in the listening audience.”

I Agree i didnt know it said that until my older sister pointed it out to me and all parents should expect this from Britney she is the sort of girl who would do that but who really cares if it says that children are not going to know what that word means and it shouldn't be banned because it says if you seek amy and doesn't mention the F-word at all in the song and will only be heard if you say if you seek amy as fast as you can !!!! So please people on my side vote not to ban the great song

Hey guys.
Don't ban the song, We have never even proved if thats what it really meant. And she is not even bluntly spelling it out. The song is what it is. It says "If u seek amy" not f-u-c-k-me And it never has spelled the word out. So as of now the song is still if u seek amy! OMG. Anyways, its almost like saying that a song called (for say) kiss a sand shark, is really (OMG) "kiss a-s-s. haha because a sand shark all equal up to a-s-s. Get real people, and go get a life. Just tell your kids to not listen to the radio if you are so worried!

I didn't realize she was spelling anything until my husband who works for a national television broadcasting station mentioned it. After that, I am convinced there is no reason to ban it and in fact I think it's a clever song of personal expression. Her fans, young and old honestly could care less about this so-called controversy- they just want to sing along to the song (the song that is "If You Seek Amy"). This only gets her point across more and more power to her (coming from someone who has a BA in Media Communications)...FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EXPRESSION!

i am 14 and i liked the song for its tune and even though i didnt understand the reason for her saying if you seek amy, it still sounded cool. now that i know the meaning behind it, it is a bit weird but still a cool song, mainly for the tune. and it is an easy song to song. i dont think it should be banned but maybe it could be broadcast at least after 5pm. thats fair i think ..?

This should not be banned! omg! what is wrong with people? most people don't get the meaning unless their mind is in the wrong place anyway? I listened to the song probably a good 50 times before a friend realized what it meant from all the hype and pointed it out. Kids shouldn't care unless they have their mind in the wrong place anyway. DO NOT BAN THIS!

We can "blame it on the alcohol", and "lick it like a lollipop", but 'If you seek Amy' seems to be a problem? I like all three of these songs, but will only listen to one of them with my daughter in the car.Congrats to Britney for being clever. To the people that have a problem with it, change the station.

I loved this song and i never saw the secret messaage until everyone made a controversy out of it and i still dont see it now... you never find things like this unless someone goes looking for it so shame on them for thinking it up in the first place.

Oh puh-lease! I'm a 49 year old mother to
a 10 year-old boy. These lyrics are cool to
me and whatever the meaning they don't sound
literal. People need to chill. Brittney is
awesome IMO. My son will continue to listen
to this "oh so raunchy, obscene" song.

You are all crazy if you want to ban this song. I love this song and i have kids and they sing along with it. THere are more important things going on in life than this. Britney Spears is a wonderful artist and you all need to leave her alone!! Nobody bans eminem's songs. Todays society is too sensitve, get over yourself! Civil rights people can also suck it too!!
