Some of the night's highlights of the 51st Annual Grammy Awards included Whitney Houston, who made an appearance presenting the award for Best R & B Album to Jennifer Hudson for her self-titled album. Hudson, who lost her mother, brother and nephew to murder in October, kept her emotional acceptance speech short and sweet thanking her family in "heaven and those who are here..." She later gave an emotional performance with "You Pulled Me Through."
Another Grammy highlight was a performance by the
Jonas Brothers who performed with Stevie Wonder and Miley Cyrus.
One notable missing Grammy nominee was R & B singer, Chris Brown, who is being investigated for alleged felony assault on a woman. He was scheduled to perform that night. His girlfriend, singer Rihanna, who was also scheduled to performed, also skipped the event. Brown's performance was replaced by Al Green's classic hit "Let's Stay Together" sung by Green, Justin Timberlake, Boyz II Men and Keith Urban.
