QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
(and the answers you need to hear!)
It is extremely important that you use a "fashion photographer" that can show you his/her experience doing such work! The clients of ours you'll meet with will be able to tell the difference between photos taken by "professional fashion photographers", "wedding photographers", college photography students, mall or department store photographers, and your mom!!! Our clients are PROFESSIONALS in the industry, and will want to work with those who are serious and professional- your photos are the first thing they see and will make the all-important first impression! Remember, your comp card is your resume- you want it to look as good as possible- it will be what determines whether you or the person next to you gets the job!
Q: What experience do you have with shooting models?
A: I am an experienced fashion photographer who has done shoots with models specifically for their comp cards and portfolios.
Q: Can we set up a time so I can review your work?
A: Absolutely! You can come in and get a look at my portfolio or photo book, which has photos of models I've shot.
(Their portfolio or photo book is their resume. It will have examples of all types of work they've done- and it will obviously be their best work. If they try to tell you they're experienced in fashion photography, but don't have examples- they're lying!)
Q: Do you shoot digital?
A: Yes. I can put your photos onto a cd or disk for you.
Q: Are your shoots "in studio" or "on location"?
A: We can shoot you in our studio, but can also be available to shoot "on location"
(They should ask if you had anywhere in mind, but an experienced fashion photographer should also have plenty of suggestions for "on location" shoots)
Q: How do you charge?
A: We have different packages to choose from depending on your needs
YOUR NEEDS WILL INCLUDE:
- 4 or 5 different looks
- 20-30 photos of each look, with different poses and shots (headshot, 3/4, and full body)
- Hair stylist and makeup artist (for each look)
- CD or disk with ALL photos on it
